It takes courage to admit sometimes you need help. We all do. In having worked with many clients, a characteristic I feel is important is to be someone who is seeking truth. In the world we live in, there are so many external distractions that it becomes important to weed out what is of worth and value, and what has no meaning and purpose in life. Having a desire to seek out what that truth is for you, will be inherent in the therapeutic journey you will take. Other qualities to include are a motivation and desire to learn more about yourself and how participating in therapy will benefit your life. A willingness and openness to make changes is the best and hardest part of the experience. The good thing is, you already have the answers. My job is to help you uncover what those truths are for you, and encourage you along this path. Being a truth seeker myself, I constantly am integrating and internalizing the obstacles and life lessons along my path. Sometimes they are uncomfortable and painful, but necessary in the journey towards healing. You set your goals, make them realistic, and you can make anything possible. The best part of the journey, becomes acceptance of yourself, and kindness in the process. I will take you as you are, how you are, with no judgements. That’s not my job.
I have many years working with those who are struggling with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, grief and loss, addiction, and trauma related issues. At this time I feel a strong desire to focus with Clients within the depression, anxiety arena. Also the specific work with Trauma related clients primarily in Sexual trauma, familial dynamics and its impact on relationships will bring opportunities for growth. Another area is Grief. In our society, we are beginning to see the development of complex trauma and its effects on children, through each generation. Finding a balance while learning new coping skills is primary to our being able to live productively and finding meaning and purpose in what you choose to do in the future. Having been a full-time care-giver to my elderly parents, I understand the difficulties relating to day to day care of others, and the absolute need to create more skills in doing self care for myself. Self care is a MUST when on this journey. You need to keep up our strength and stamina in order to achieve the goals you have, and to feel successful in all you do.
I enjoy working with clients with a variety of cultural backgrounds, life circumstances, and day to day struggles. I love what I do. I am passionate about seeing people grow and create healthier relationships for themselves, and loved ones. I specialize in working with clients who have experienced or are suffering from trauma related issues. I enjoy helping others while using strength-based approaches and integrating various treatment therapies to best meet the needs and goals of my Clients. I provide emotional support and guidance and young adults and Adults specifically. I focus on adjustment issues and significant life changes in order to address grief needs from trauma, illness or accident. I aim to empower my clients to create space, balance, time, and strength to process and embrace their grief needs. I meet clients where they are in their grief and then partner with them on their journey as they identify their own individual grief needs, goals, and discover connections to their loved ones along the way.
